AURAS vs Heymondo: which Schengen visa insurance should you buy?
Is AURAS or Heymondo cheaper for a Schengen visa? AURAS: a flat $1.50 a day, against a Heymondo price that varies by plan and destination and that our model puts around €2.80 a day on a short trip (Heymondo publishes no rate, so treat that as directional). On our model: 18-39: AURAS is cheaper at every trip length; 60-69: AURAS is cheaper at every trip length; 70+: Heymondo is not sold. Heymondo is EU-regulated (Spain), holds a 4.3 Trustpilot score against AURAS's 3.2, and its cover starts at $250,000 against AURAS's $35,000 entry tier, but it has no visa-refusal refund and stops covering at 70.
AURAS is the cheapest certificate we track; Heymondo is the better-reviewed app-first insurer with far bigger headline cover. The question is whether you need the cover and service, or just the certificate.

Age limits, refusal and reviews
Visa refusal. Heymondo has no visa-refusal refund clause in its General Conditions. AURAS offers an optional add-on of about $49 that reimburses the embassy fee, not the premium, which we could not find in its wording.
Older travelers. Heymondo cover ends the day the insured turns 70 (its quote tool shows a maximum age of 69). AURAS sells beyond 70 with a surcharge from 66.
Reviews. Heymondo holds 4.3 out of 5 on Trustpilot from 3,822 reviews. AURAS holds 3.2 from 169, with complaints about denied and slow claims.

Who each one is for
AURAS suits a budget traveler who mainly needs the certificate and is over 69 (Heymondo will not sell to them), accepting a non-EU underwriter and a $3,000 per-event cap.
Heymondo suits a traveler under 70 who wants real cover, an EU-regulated insurer and a strong review record, and is willing to pay more per day for it.
Bottom line
AURAS wins on price and on age range; Heymondo wins on cover, regulation and reviews. If you might actually claim, Heymondo is the safer buy; if you need a cheap certificate, or are 70 or older, AURAS is the one of the two you can buy.
